Tri-Village Church, which was an extension of our Wheaton Bible Church and Iglesia del Pueblo congregations in West Chicago, had been meeting in AWANA’s building for six years in Streamwood, Illinois. When the building was put up for sale, we began to pray as familia for God to provide a temporary location and direct us to a new permanent location.
The news of a temporary relocation added to challenges Tri-Village Church has already been facing the last two years—specifically because of the pandemic, which has impacted many smaller congregations. In addition, many transitions, some members moving away, the slow return of congregants, and a lack of volunteers has created a very difficult position for Tri-Village.
While we extensively investigated more than 120 possible locations, the Lord did not open any permanent doors. We were recently informed that the AWANA building was sold, and our ability to use the space would conclude the middle of September 2022. After much prayer, many hours of conversation, as well as seeking wisdom and direction from the Lord, the Executive Leadership Team, under the guidance of the Elders, came to the conclusion that Tri-Village’s season of ministry came to an end.
Tri-Village Church gathered for a final service on Sunday, September 11.
Who should I speak with about next steps to take for a home church?
This is understandably one of the most important questions you have. We invite you to worship with us at Wheaton Bible Church in West Chicago, of which Tri-Village Church was an extension since it launched in 2016. At our website, you can learn more about our beliefs and values, check out past services, or discover some next steps that are available. As familia, we will continue to be in prayer for you during this time of transition, trusting God will see you through and guide your steps toward His good and perfect will. However we can be of help to you during this time, please let us know.
If Wheaton Bible Church is not a possibility for you, we are recommending several trusted churches in the area for you to consider. Tri-Village Church has been renting AWANA’s headquarters since 2016, and we are incredibly thankful to them for how they’ve blessed us over the years. They recently sold the building, and our ability to utilize the space will conclude the middle of September.
