Wheaton Bible Church has partnered with World Relief to resettle refugees for over thirty years. Our commitment today is as strong as it was when World Relief opened its doors in DuPage County thirty years ago. We are committed to welcoming the stranger no matter their country of origin. Every weekend we welcome refugees from around the world to Worship with us. Twice per month we host an adult community made up of current and former Muslim’s to study the Bible together. We believe the movements of people is directed by the Hand of God. And we are responding to this opportunity to share or lives as Christ followers with any and all refugees.

When refugees arrive in the U.S., they have about 90 days to become financially self-sustaining. With the help of World Relief and volunteers from our church, they are provided access to English classes and assistance in finding employment, as well as an apartment and the basic items they need to begin transitioning to life in America.
But their biggest need is friendship! Our Refugee Resettlement ministry provides teams of people—known as Friendship Partners—to come alongside refugees. We attempt to befriend them and show them compassion and love during this huge transition in their lives. We are currently seeking volunteers to be part of the Refugee Resettlement Friendship Team.
Good Neighbor Kits
Most refugees arrive with just the clothes they can fit in a suitcase. The first night here, they will be in their own apartment with donated furniture, along with basic household items included in what we call a Good Neighbor Kit. Our Refugee Resettlement ministry collects the contents for the kits, which include basic items needed for a family to live in an apartment, things like pots, pans, dishes, towels, bedding, and other essentials. The list is fairly long, but a group of people—often an Adult Community or a Community Group—can easily come up with the new or gently used items needed without spending a lot of money.
World Relief Programs
World Relief also offers a variety of other support programs for refugees through their offices in Wheaton. They appreciate the volunteers from Wheaton Bible Church who serve with them as ESL Tutors, ESL Childhood Aides, and in a variety of other roles.
