Hands and Heart Quilters

These women give their hands to work and their hearts to God. Quilters of all skill levels, including beginners, are invited to join us as we work on projects that benefit our missionaries and outreach efforts worldwide.

We created and presented our first quilts in 1996, and to date, nearly every career missionary family or individual supported by our church has received a quilt that serves as a reminder that they are “blanketed in prayer,” no matter where they are serving.

We have provided quilts for more than 80 missionary families or individuals so far. Today we continue to make quilts and other sewn items as an outreach and encouragement to others. The original quilts were created from scraps collected by the quilters, assembled into blocks, and signed by the congregation, whose signatures indicated their promise to pray for our missionaries.

We are currently working on quilts for retired missionaries, as well as for those who are newly appointed to missionary service.

The work of Hands & Heart Quilters is not limited to quilt making. We have also worked on service projects to provide caps and scarves for the homeless, layette sets for new babies, bed quilts for families in need, baby quilts for missionary families, “comfort” quilts for special circumstances, and adult bibs for use in local nursing care facilities.

"I don't know how to quilt, but I'd like to help."

Hands & Heart Quilters needs people who can cut, sew, press, design, quilt, bind...or who are willing to learn these tasks. The group includes quilt making instructors and friendly sewers who will be happy to help you learn. Women of all ages are welcome.

Monthly workshops provide an opportunity to work together on projects, and to share the common bonds of quilt making and a love for the Lord.

Hands & Heart Quilters is a ministry of Wheaton Bible Church, but the group also includes women from other local churches. All women of faith are welcome to participate. We meet monthly at Wheaton Bible Church to work on projects, share and learn. Quilters at all levels of experience are welcome.
