\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Greek word for \u00abchurch\u00bb is ekklesia, which simply means a gathering of people. From the beginning, the church was never meant to be defined by brick walls, stained glass windows, or a permanent address. God’s people themselves are His temple, indwelt by the Holy Spirit and called to carry His presence wherever they go. Yet there is something special about having a place to gather. A place to worship together week after week. A place to open God’s Word. A place where children can learn, prayers can be lifted, meals can be shared, and neighbors can encounter the love of Christ. While a building is not the church, a dedicated space can become a powerful tool for ministry.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

For fifteen years, the believers in Ti\u0161nov, Czechia faithfully lived out the reality that the church is people, not a place. Every Sunday required another setup. Chairs had to be arranged. Sound equipment carried in. Supplies unpacked. After worship ended, everything had to be packed away again. The church gathered wherever space was available: first in a village hall, then in a family preschool center, later in a local cinema, and even in the basement of an apartment building. Community events had to fit someone else’s calendar. Ministry opportunities were often limited by availability. There was never a place to leave materials, welcome visitors throughout the week, or create a lasting presence in the community. Still, God was faithful.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

For fifteen years, this was the reality for Marek and Julie Hancik and the church they have faithfully shepherded in Ti\u0161nov, Czechia. Since 2006, Marek and Julie have served as church planters in the Czech Republic. For Marek, this ministry is deeply personal. Having been born in Czechia, he returned to his homeland with a desire to share the hope of Christ and help establish a gospel-centered church in a region where many people have little connection to biblical faith. Ti\u0161nov, a town known for its rolling vineyards and population of approximately 10,000 people nestled in the South Moravian region of the country. Like much of Czechia, it is considered one of the most secular places in Europe. Yet God has been steadily at work, drawing people to Himself through faithful witness, relationships, and years of patient ministry.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Hanciks’ ministry is not confined to Sunday mornings. Throughout the week, they seek to serve and engage their community in practical ways. Teenagers gather for English Club, where language learning opens doors to deeper conversations and breaks down surface level relationships. Families participate in holiday celebrations and craft events that create opportunities for connection. During the summers of 2016, 2017, and 2018, the ministry hosted a church team from the United States to lead an English day camp for youth in Tisnov. This outreach served as a significant avenue for building meaningful relationships within the community and creating opportunities for ongoing engagement. The ministry hopes to resume these camps in the future as an effective tool for outreach and connection. The church also operates a food bank that serves individuals and families facing hardship. These ministries provide much more than programs. They create spaces where trust is built, friendships are formed, and people encounter Christians who genuinely care for them. Over the years, the church has become a bridge between the gospel and the wider community: a place where people can ask questions, experience hospitality, and begin exploring who Jesus is. As the ministry continued to grow, however, one challenge remained constant: the lack of permanent space. For years, Marek and Julie prayed and searched. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Opportunities appeared and then disappeared. Potential locations fell through. Doors opened briefly only to close again. Like many church planters around the world, they learned to wait patiently on God’s timing. Then, after years of prayerful waiting, God provided. A new space became available in the center of Ti\u0161nov. Located just a five-minute walk from the town square and conveniently situated near the bus and train station, the building offers a strategic location for ministry. The 3,000-square-foot facility includes a large gathering room, a smaller meeting space, storage areas, restrooms, and a covered outdoor porch. Although at first glance, it may appear to be yet another rental property. But for this church family, it holds something far deeper than a new set of walls. Unlike every space they have known before, this one is open to them throughout the week: steady, available, ready. Ministry no longer has to squeeze itself into borrowed hours or rush through the margins of someone else\u2019s schedule. There is no longer the familiar rhythm of unloading, setting up, tearing down, packing away.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Yet even that is not the real story. The building itself is not the answer. It never was. The answer has always been what God is forming among them; lives being knit together, a body strengthened in love, and a people learning to carry one another faithfully in Christ. Now, with this space entrusted to them, they are being invited into something richer: to use what has been given not as an end in itself, but as an instrument of God\u2019s glory. A place positioned for presence and for impact. A place where hospitality can widen, discipleship can deepen, and outreach can extend further than before. It is not merely a building they have received, but a stewardship. A quiet, weighty invitation to learn how to hold it open, so that everything that happens within it might point beyond it. For the first time in fifteen years, the church has a place to call home. The significance of this provision was not lost on the congregation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Recognizing the opportunity God had provided, church members prayerfully committed to increasing their giving in order to cover the significantly higher rent. For many families, this represented a meaningful sacrifice. Yet they understood what this space could mean for the future of ministry in Ti\u0161nov and responded with remarkable generosity and faith. At the same time, the new facility required substantial preparation before it could become fully functional for ministry. That is where Wheaton Bible Church’s MissionsFest Grant became part of the story.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

While the building itself provided incredible potential, it was still largely an empty shell. To become a welcoming center for worship, discipleship, and outreach, it needed resources and furnishings that would allow ministry to flourish. Through the generosity of Wheaton Bible Church, the grant helped transform an empty space into a ministry hub. Seating created room for worship gatherings where believers can now gather consistently. Technology and equipment support teaching, discipleship, and community events. Library resources provide opportunities for learning and spiritual growth. Hospitality spaces help foster conversations, relationships, and fellowship. Youth gathering areas create welcoming environments for the next generation. Visible signage makes the church more accessible to people throughout the community who may be seeking answers, friendship, or hope. These improvements are not ultimately about furniture, equipment, or renovations, but are truly about people.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEvery chair represents someone who may hear the gospel. What fills this space is far more important than what furnishes it. Within these walls, conversations will unfold over cups of coffee, prayers will be whispered in moments of need, and God’s Word will be opened week after week. Friendships will deepen, faith will take root, and neighbors will discover a community marked by the love of Christ. The grant did not merely furnish a building, but it expanded opportunities for discipleship, hospitality, and gospel outreach for years to come.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThis new chapter is about more than a place; it is about the lives that will be touched, cultivated and transformed within it. With a permanent home, ministry possibilities have expanded dramatically. Youth gatherings are no longer constrained by rental schedules. Bible studies and discipleship groups have a consistent location to meet. Community events can happen throughout the week instead of competing for limited time slots. The food bank can serve families more effectively and regularly. Visitors who are curious about faith now have a visible, welcoming place where they can connect with believers and ask questions. The church’s presence in Ti\u0161nov is no longer temporary or hidden. It has become visible, accessible and rooted. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Of course, Marek and Julie know that the building itself is not the destination. Buildings do not save people and facilities do not transform lives. Only the Gospel of Jesus Christ can do that. Yet throughout church history, God has often used ordinary places to accomplish extraordinary things. Homes, marketplaces, schoolhouses, rented halls, and church buildings have all become launching points for His mission. Today, this new space in Ti\u0161nov stands as another reminder of God’s faithfulness. It represents years of prayer answered, of perseverance rewarded, and years of ministry strengthened for the future. Most importantly, it provides a stable foundation from which the hope of Christ can continue reaching the people of Ti\u0161nov.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Because of God’s provision and the generosity of churches like Wheaton Bible Church, the believers in Ti\u0161nov now have more than a meeting place. They have a home from which the hope of Christ can continue reaching their community for years to come.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
