How God Is Transforming Families in Pakistan<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBefore the sun rises over the plains of Punjab, the air is already heavy. The earth is dry and cracked beneath bare feet. Smoke drifts from towering brick kilns that loom over the landscape like giant chimneys, their furnaces burning day and night. For some children, this is all they have ever known. The day begins before dawn. Small hands shape wet clay. Bare feet move across uneven ground. The heat grows stronger with every passing hour as stacks of bricks stretch endlessly toward the horizon. The furnaces roar with an intense heat that can be felt from a distance, baking thousands upon thousands of bricks destined for buildings many of these children will never see. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBy evening, their hands ache. Their backs ache. Their feet ache. Tomorrow, they will do it all again. For generations, this has been the reality for countless families living in Pakistan’s brick kiln communities. Many remain trapped in cycles of debt bondage that continue despite being outlawed decades ago. A small loan taken to cover a medical emergency, a wedding, a funeral, or an unexpected hardship can become a burden that follows a family for years. Without clear contracts, legal protection, or financial literacy, many workers struggle to know how much they owe or whether they will ever truly be free from debt. Poverty becomes inherited and opportunity becomes scarce. And for many children, the future feels as predictable as the rows of bricks stretching before them each day. Yet amid the dust and smoke, something unexpected is beginning to take root; Hope. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNow, imagine a different morning. Instead of carrying clay, a child carries a backpack. Instead of walking toward a kiln, they walk through the gates of a school. Their hands are no longer stained from shaping bricks before sunrise. Instead, they wrap around a pencil. They open a notebook and they turn the pages of a book. They write their name and know how to read them. For the first time, they sit beside other children who are free to learn, ask questions, laugh together, and imagine a future beyond the horizon of the kiln. At the end of the day, their feet are still tired. But now they are tired from running across a playground, from chasing friends, from playing games. From simply being children. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThis is the transformation taking place through the ministry of Altaf Khan and Kim Mi Kyeong and the faithful partnership of Wheaton Bible Church. Since 1987, Altaf and Kim have faithfully served Christ throughout Pakistan. For nearly four decades, they have proclaimed the Gospel, planted churches, trained leaders, discipled believers, and invested in communities that are often overlooked and underserved. When Wheaton Bible Church formally partnered with them in 2010, it joined a ministry that was already shepherding dozens of churches, operating Christian schools, and bringing the hope of Christ to thousands of people throughout Pakistan. Together, they have embraced a vision that reflects the holistic nature of God’s Kingdom. A vision that recognizes that children need more than education, families need more than temporary relief and communities need more than short-term assistance. They need hope that transforms every part of life. This is why Grace Foundation’s ministry has always been holistic.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Through church planting, discipleship, leadership development, evangelism, education, healthcare, relief work, vocational training, literacy programs, and community outreach, the ministry seeks to address both immediate needs and the deeper causes of generational poverty. The goal is not simply to help families survive but to help them flourish. That vision can now be seen in Rehmat Town, Faisalabad, where a long-awaited dream has become reality. What began as a vision in 2001 now stands as the newly established WBC Grace Foundation School, part of a mission center that also includes a local church and the Grace Medical Centre. Together, these ministries serve the spiritual, educational, and physical needs of the community.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

For many families, the school <\/span>represents<\/span> more than access to education. It <\/span>represents<\/span> possibility<\/span>.<\/span> Through the faithful generosity of believers and churches like Wheaton Bible Church, <\/span>nearly 90 percent<\/span> of students receive significant tuition <\/span>assistance<\/span> or complete fee waivers. Scholarships are being provided to deserving students, particularly young Christian girls whose educational opportunities are often limited.<\/span> As enrollment begins for Fall 2026, classrooms are <\/span>filling<\/span> with children whose futures are being reshaped through education.<\/span> The impact reaches far beyond a single school.<\/span> For more than fifteen years, the Raising Esther project has provided free education to vulnerable children throughout Pakistan through God’s provision and the support of ministry partners.<\/span> Since 2010, more than 2,500 girls and 1,100 boys have received free education through the ministry.<\/span> Some have gone on to become teachers.<\/span> Others have pursued higher education.<\/span> Many now support their families through professional careers and meaningful employment.<\/span> Each graduate <\/span>represents<\/span> more <\/span>than<\/span> personal success.<\/span> Each one <\/span>represents<\/span> a family discovering new possibilities.<\/span> A generation learning that their future does not have to be defined by their past.<\/span> Education alone, however, is not enough.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tChildren who struggle with illness cannot learn effectively. Parents burdened by medical needs often face impossible decisions. This is why the Grace Medical Centre plays such an important role in the ministry’s work. Recently renovated and upgraded through ministry support, the clinic now serves hundreds of patients every month through a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and administrators. For families who have long gone without reliable healthcare, the clinic provides compassionate care while demonstrating the love of Christ in tangible ways. Whether through a classroom, a medical consultation, a church service, or a discipleship group, the message remains the same: You are seen, valued, and loved by God. The ministry continues to persevere through challenges as well. Earlier in 2026, Principal Kim faced a significant illness that slowed enrollment efforts and created uncertainty for the school. Yet teachers continued faithfully serving students. Church facilities became temporary classrooms. Staff members remained committed to their calling. And God remained faithful. Today, Principal Kim has returned to leadership, bringing renewed strength and encouragement as the ministry continues to grow. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGrace Foundation has recently identified dozens of brick kiln families and surveyed community needs, including 95 children who currently lack access to primary education. Plans are underway to expand educational opportunities, develop literacy programs for youth and adults, provide vocational training in tailoring and technical skills, assist families with healthcare and hygiene education, help secure legal documentation and identity cards, and provide support for those seeking freedom from exploitative debt arrangements. These initiatives are not separate programs. They are strategic responses to some of the deepest challenges facing vulnerable communities in Pakistan. And behind each one stands a faithful partnership. Every prayer prayed by Wheaton Bible Church. Every gift given. Every year of support. Together, these have helped strengthen churches, train leaders, educate children, care for families, and share the Gospel throughout Pakistan. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

As we celebrate nearly four decades of faithful ministry by Altaf Khan and Kim Mi Kyeong and more than fifteen years of partnership with Wheaton Bible Church, we are reminded that God\u2019s work often grows quietly, one life at a time. A child chooses a pencil instead of a brick. A family receives medical care when it is needed most. A student graduates. A church is strengthened. A leader is trained. A neighbor hears the Gospel. Slowly and steadily, Christ is bringing freedom, restoration, and lasting hope to communities that have lived for generations in the shadow of bondage; one child, one family, and one community at a time. What a privilege it is to participate in what God is doing. What a privilege to stand alongside faithful local leaders who serve these communities every day. What a privilege to pray, to give, and to send.
