Dear Familia,
I want to take a moment to share something exciting—and meaningful—that’s coming up.
For over 16 years, our church atrium has been a place of connection, fellowship, hospitality, and spiritual growth. It’s where friendships form, ministries come to life, and people feel at home.
Now, we’re stepping into a new season—a chance to revitalize this space and make it even more welcoming and functional for our growing community. And keep in mind that this will allow us to expand the church’s ability to minister, welcome, and serve both current and future members and guests.
I know whenever a church takes on a large project, people ask important questions— “Is this really necessary?” “Is this the best use of our resources?” And those are good questions. We’ve asked them too.
We want you to know that this project isn’t about aesthetics. It’s about mission and people. The atrium is the first impression for nearly everyone who walks in these doors—whether it’s someone who’s known Christ for decades, or someone just beginning to seek Him. It’s also the space where ministry flows all week long—conversations, coffee, next steps, discipleship and moments that matter.
We also want to refresh and expand our Missions Center, making our engagement with the Great Commandment and the Great Commission more visible and inspiring. With 93 missionary units in 52 nations—many in closed or persecuted areas—we want to help our church family see, engage, and be part of what God is doing around the world and across the street in our local communities.
And yes, as faithful stewards we’re being thoughtful with finances. The design is thoughtful and functional, not extravagant, yet visually pleasing. Thanks to God’s provision, we already have the funds needed for this project. Funding comes from legacy bequest gifts received in prior years and your most recent Trust Gift Sunday giving. These gifts were set aside and designated by the Board of Elders for this purpose. As our facilities age over time, we must responsibly maintain and update them. This project includes a plan to accelerate our ministry vision, not delay it.
So, this update is about more than design—it’s about mission. It’s about creating space for deeper connection, for visible reminders of our commitment to global and local missions, and for making everyone who walks in feel like they belong.
Here’s what you need to know:
The project begins Monday, April 28.
- Sundays will continue as usual. The same entrances will remain open, though some areas of the atrium will be temporarily blocked off for safety.
- Gathering Grounds Café will be closed for the summer.
- During the week, Monday through Friday, the atrium and its entrance will be closed. For all midweek ministry activity, please enter through door N8.
- We expect everything to be finished by mid-August.
This is a project for all of us. It reflects who we are as a church and who we’re becoming. Thank you for being part of it—through your prayers, your generosity, and your presence. We can’t wait to welcome you into the new space this fall!
With much love,
Pastor Hanibal
