Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. – Jesus
We believe that our relationship with God changes everything about how we interact with the world and our neighbors. We hope you do too. Maybe you’re here just to gather information about what we do in our local community – that’s great! And maybe you’re here because you are evaluating how exactly God wants you to “love your neighbor” in this next season of life.
Whatever the motivation for your visit, we hope this page is helpful. Here you will find some of the context and history for how we have chosen to focus our local outreach. Then, click on some of the opportunities (look to the right if you are on your computer, or in the “Go To” drop down list if you are on your phone) for a more detailed description of what we do and of organizations we volunteer with and support around DuPage county.
Wheaton Bible Church has always been a “sending” congregation—supporting missionaries and mission partners around the world. Since our move in 2007 to our North Avenue campus in West Chicago, we have seen increasing opportunities to reach the world—right here in DuPage County.
Our Puente del Pueblo outreach is now the largest social service provider in West Chicago, reaching out in friendship and service to residents of the Timber Lake and Main Park Apartments, offering case management services, adult literacy programming, and after-school programs for children and youth. We are also involved across the county through ministries including CareFest, Refugee Resettlement, Adoption & Foster Care, Big Buddies, Administer Justice, and more. We also have a number of local partner ministries that provide opportunities for the church to express God’s grace, love, and justice to people in our neighborhood.
