Women's Bible Studies

Registration opens December 1, 2016 for our upcoming Winter Bible studies. We request that you register by Tuesday, January 10 to be placed in a small group of your choice or to secure your childcare reservations requests. Because childcare space is limited, after January 10 your child(ren) will be placed on a waiting list.

This semester Women’s Ministry offers several Bible study options for you to choose from! Each will help you learn more about God, grow in your understanding of God’s Word, and give you an opportunity to meet other women who will be on the same journey you are, wherever you are in your faith journey.

Most of our studies meet regularly from September through November, and January through May. Some may require sign-up or registration—especially those that offer child care. Check out the options below, or find the latest Bible study options on our Women's Upcoming Events Calendar on the right, or contact Christine Walraven, 630.876.6653.

Place 4 You

Begins January 17

Place4You is our largest Bible study for women, offering identical sessions on Tuesday nights and Wednesday mornings. Place4You meets during the fall semester and winter/spring semester. Each week offers large-group teaching as well as small-group discussion time.

This semester Place4You offers two Bible study options that will run concurrently.  Women are able to choose which study they will attend upon registration.

Option 1: Joshua, Every Good Promise Fulfilled by Jen Wilkin

Joshua is an epic story of a nation engaged in a critical mission – conquering and possessing the land God had promised them.  We get front row seats to the suspense, danger, and conflict, all the while wondering, Will they fail or succeed? Will they obey God? Will God be faithful?  Join us on a breathtaking journey to discover the answers to these questions and more.  What we find could make all the difference as we seek to believe God and His promises for us today.

Option 1 is comprised of a large group teaching by our Place4You teaching team, small group discussion and about one and one-half hours of homework per week.

Option 2: The Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer & Entrusted: A Study of 2 Timothy by Beth Moore

The Armor of God study will equip you to know, understand, and put on the armor of God we read about in Ephesians 6, so that you are equipped to face the daily invisible war that the enemy wages around you.

Entrusted will encourage you to guard the mighty gift God has entrusted to you, further His Kingdom by sharing Christ with others, and pour into future generations just as Paul once mentored Timothy.

Option 2 combines these 2 studies, one following the other for a single registration.  This option will be comprised of large group teaching by DVD video sessions, small group discussion and one and one-half hours of homework per week.

Precept Bible Study

Begins January 19

Precept is an inductive Bible study for women who want an in-depth examination of Scripture. Two back to back studies are offered this semester for a single registration.

Galatians by Kay Arthur

Paul’s letter to the Galatians proclaims that salvation is through faith alone. It also emphasizes freedom in Christ to live by the power of the Spirit, knowing that our relationship with God is not based on our performance but on the finished work of Jesus Christ.  So we are truly free, not to serve our sinful nature, but to love and serve our Lord and others. This seven-week inductive Bible study includes weekly homework and group discussion.

Breaking Free from Fear by Kay Arthur

In our lives, we may face many different fears that can assault our minds, trouble our souls, and bring on untold stress.  But we don’t have to remain captive to our fears.  In this study we will learn how to confront our circumstances with strength and courage as we live in the fear of the Lord-the fear that conquers every other fear and sets us free to live by faith.  This six-week study, which has no homework, in an easy introduction to inductive study.

Prayer: Does it make any difference by Philip Yancey

What is prayer?  How does it work?  And more importantly, does it work?  In theory, prayer is the essential human act, a priceless point of contact between us and the God of the universe.  In practice prayer is often frustrating, confusing, and fraught with mystery.  In this book we will explore such questions as:  Is God listening?  Why should God care about me?  If God knows everything, what’s the point of prayer?

Thursday mornings, 9:00–10:00 am, beginning January 19

Online registration is now closed.  Walk-in Registration is available for each Bible study option listed.  Questions or need more information?  Contact cwalraven@wheatonbible.org.
