We invite you to participate in GEMS, our special needs ministry at Wheaton Bible Church. We believe God has blessed us with children who have special needs and has entrusted us with their care. The volunteers who serve in this ministry have compassionate hearts and a desire to share the love of Christ with these children and their families.
We have volunteer "buddies" who come each Sunday at 9:45 and 11:15 for one hour to work with a GEMS child. They assist in any way necessary to help the GEMS children have the best experience possible each week. The Children's Ministry staff will work with parents to determine where your child will be placed and what we can do to provide a valuable time each Sunday morning.
On Wednesday evenings, 6:30-8:00 pm, we hold our mid-week Awana Clubs for GEMS children. We provide buddies for GEMS children to participate in the regular Awana program.
Join us on the 4th Friday of each month for a time of fellowship, prayer, and frequent guest speakers. We discuss topics of concern as they relate to the special needs child, siblings, and family. In addition, the GEMS child and siblings will have an organized time of fun and games.
As a "buddy" to one of our children with special needs, you will be assigned a specific child and will work with him/her each week one to one. No previous experience is required.
