Mid- and Long-Term Missionary Applicants

WBC is pleased to consider applicants who are well-qualified, have strong ties to our church and pursue ministry in alignment with our strategic priorities and values. Click here for our Global Outreach Values. We are also a founding church of the Greater Chicago Missions Consortium (GCMC), so we often support a missionary from one of the GCMC member churches.

Qualification for WBC missionary candidacy is based on the nature of the ministry as well as the "four C's": calling, character, community, and competency.

• Calling 
  A candidate must be able to clearly articulate God's call to a particular ministry for which he/she is well-suited.
• Character
  A candidate must demonstrate consistent godly character and exhibit a Christ-like maturity, verified through close observation and references. 
• Community
  A candidate must have been active at WBC for at least five years. Strong preference will be given to candidates currently attending WBC. Past attendees (who meet the five-year requirement) as well as children of WBC-supported missionaries who do not fulfill the five-year requirement will probably be considered for a one-time grant only, not for ongoing support. Any candidate who will be based in the Chicago area for his/her ministry assignment must attend WBC. Exceptions to these requirements are made for a few specific types of candidates. • Competency
  A candidate must demonstrate the ability, gifts, and experience necessary to fulfill his/her call into ministry.
