Bookstore Manager

Wheaton Bible Church has an opening for a manager of our on campus bookstore. The WBC Chapters Bookstore is a full service bookstore open weekdays and Sundays offering a wide range of Bibles, books, inspirational gifts and greeting cards, and a variety of other resources. The Bookstore Manager will direct the bookstore ministry in providing a variety of Christian resources for both our church attenders and the community, ensuring all customers are served with excellence. This individual also assists church staff in procuring their print media and resources, and maximizing bookstore sales and profitability.

The Bookstore Manager provides leadership for the business development and daily management of Chapters including leading the volunteer staff. The Manager works closely with the pastoral staff and their ministry teams, and collaborates on efficiently and effectively meeting their resource needs. The ideal candidate must understand retail business operations, have a service and people orientation, be willing to work flexible hours, and have a heart to serve the Lord.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the operational functions of the bookstore including development of policies and procedures, financial management, goal setting, planning and implementing marketing strategies, order processing, trouble shooting, customer service, industry relations, store maintenance and repair, and supporting special events.
  • Recruit, train and manage volunteers serving in the bookstore including training on the POS system, customer service, special ordering, etc. Supervise two part time, paid staff members.
  • Manage the overall budget, including areas of accounting, receivables, payables, bookkeeping, end of the month and end of the year financial reports.
  • Create and lead advertising, and marketing strategies.
  • Oversee store merchandising, stock replenishing, and receiving and processing of freight.
  • Oversee the buying function including inventory control. Monitor inventory to ensure shelves are well stocked. Develop and place orders and cooperate with ministries to meet their product needs. Work with vendors for cost-effective and timely ordering.
Requirements
  • Commitment to holiness and developing your personal walk with God in order to model and lead others in their faith
  • Prior Christian bookstore experience and/or current retail experience. Current knowledge of Christian product base, i.e., books, Bibles, and gifts is a must
  • Excellent people skills and communication skills and an understanding that the Chapters is a ministry involving relationship building with customers, community, staff and vendor/business partners
  • Business skills to ensure the Bookstore is managed effectively and with integrity
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to recruit, train, motivate, and develop volunteer staff
  • Strong organizational skills, computer skills and detail orientation

High School Discipleship Pastor

Wheaton Bible Church, located approximately 30 miles west of Chicago, is committed to making disciples who make disciples, and seeing those disciples progressively love God, grow together and reach the world. Our Student Ministry is intent on both developing the spiritual lives of students and reaching students who don’t know Christ as their Savior.

We are seeking a full-time High School Discipleship Pastor. The purpose of this position is to connect the hearts of students to the Gospel and to encourage them to pursue a disciple making lifestyle. This position works closely with Student Ministry staff and volunteers, students, parents, and Global Outreach staff. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated passion for discipleship and the spiritual growth of students and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Lead High School Core Group Ministry.
  • Direct programming of Sunday mornings, missional events, and other strategic events, including Winter Camp, Global Outreach Teams, and Community Nights.

Bilingual Junior High Teacher - Puente Del Pueblo

Responsibilities
The Junior High Teacher is responsible to build relationships with a group of 12-15 students and facilitate learning in an after school program during the academic year and a day program during the summer. Duties include academic tutoring, life skills instruction, teaching Christian education, facilitating group work with students involving experiential learning, planning and implementing community service activities, and communicating with parents. The junior high teacher is also responsible for maintaining Puente’s standard of classroom behavior during program time.

Requirements
A passion for working with junior high age students; Bachelor’s degree in education, social work or a related field; previous classroom teaching or group experience with adolescents; previous experience facilitating experiential or service learning strongly preferred; sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk families and culturally diverse backgrounds. A current, valid IL driver’s license is required along with a good driving record and reliable transportation. A Commitment to OCM’s Statement of Mission and Faith is required. Children's Ministry Coordinator - Iglesia Del Pueblo

Iglesia del Pueblo (IDP), our Spanish speaking congregation at Wheaton Bible Church (WBC), is seeking a part time Children’s Ministry Coordinator. The purpose of this position is to partner with parents in our quest to see future generations love God, grow together, and reach the world. This position will provide development, oversight, and leadership for all aspects of IDP ministry to children, birth through 6th grade, including Sunday mornings, GEMS (special needs), and community groups.

Responsibilities
  • Ministry Oversight – Oversee all aspects of IDP ministry to children. Serve as liaison between IDP and WBC to promote and support Family Fun Events. Facilitate communication between CM Childcare Coordinator and IDP to meet childcare needs.
  • Ministry Support – Member of the WBC/IDP Children’s Ministry team for vision casting, ministry direction, and planning. Partner with team members on major CM events throughout the year. Support the overall mission, vision, and annual priorities of WBC/IDP.
  • Leadership – Provide vision, direction, development and management for all aspects of Sunday morning ministry to children from birth through sixth grade and GEMS Ministries. Oversee the development of a teaching program for children at IDP community groups. Program children’s events, such as Kid’s Choir presentations, and Día del Nino.
  • Discipleship – Seek to develop a culture where parents and grandparents fulfill their biblical calling to be the primary spiritual trainers of their children; equip parents and grandparents to pass on their faith to the next generation. Pursue discipleship and care opportunities in relationships with parents, volunteers and staff, which may include counseling, family care, hospital visits, etc.
  • Volunteers – Work with CM team to recruit, equip, train, oversee, and care for volunteers and paid childcare staff, ensuring they have completed the child protection screening process.
  • Personal Development – Pursue professional, personal, and spiritual development in the area of children’s ministry.
  • Curriculum – Partner with IDP Lead Pastor to research and select Gospel-centered curriculum for IDP Children’s Ministries. Prepare and gather age-appropriate Bible-based activities and supplies.
  • Wheaton Bible Church Partnership – Develop an ongoing relationship with the WBC CM team for the purpose of working together as one body in our church. Assist in developing policies, procedures, and manuals to maximize safety.
  • Finances – Responsible for the IDP Children’s Ministry budget.

The Site Coordinator is responsible for coordinating on site services to the residents at an apartment complex by developing relationships, assessing community needs and providing linkage and referral to resources. The Bilingual Site Coordinator participates in program planning, financial management, supervises staff and volunteers, engages church staff and congregants in the program, coordinates after school programming and provides direct services (case management or youth development).

Requirements

Bilingual Spanish/English required. MSW degree or MA in Psychology, Education or related field preferred; the ability to develop relationships with residents, parents and students; strong assessment skills and familiarity with community resources; at least 3 years of education or case management experience; volunteer management and staff or intern supervision experience. Candidate must have sensitivity to the needs of low-income, high-risk families and strong communication skills. Valid IL Driver’s license, reliable vehicle and good driving record. A commitment to Outreach Community Ministries’ Statement of Mission and Faith is required as is attendance and relationship development at Wheaton Bible Church and/ or Iglesia del Pueblo, its Spanish-speaking congregation.

Salary for this position falls between $34,000 and $44,375 based on education, skills and experience.
